  Establish A connection

with Aloha

We don't send anyone away just to be homeless elsewhere. This is not ethical. This is not aloha. We contact their families who are willing to meet the individual at the airport and help them to get established in their new environment. Sometimes it involves assisting the client and family members to develop an action plan once they reach the new location.

Traveling Pets

Many people experiencing homelessness have pets living with them. For this reason, we will never turn a client away for simply owning a pet. We are unique in this aspect, but if clients are moving out-of-state, we transport their animal with them to their destination. This includes pet travel fare, crates and veterinarian health certificates prior to flight.

We help our clients get to their home destination by purchasing one-way flight tickets. We also provide luggage, apparel to accommodate weather, hygiene kits and food cards.

Return Home Program 2022

A large sub-population of people experiencing homelessness are not originally from Hawaii. According to the 2022 Point in Time Count on Hawaii Island, "Of the 23 households providing responses, 20 came from other states, while three came from foreign countries." Although this number is strikingly high, this number reflects only those who came to Hawaii within that year.   If the amount of time is extended to two years, or even three, the statistic will climb dramatically. With this in mind, we focused on helping individuals who had gotten "stuck" here to return to their support systems in their home state through our Return Home Program.
