Referrals to Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities   

  FY 2022 - 2023 ​

808 Homeless Task Force assisted 12 individuals on the Westside with referrals and airfare to drug and alcohol residential treatment facilities located in the outer-islands and the mainland.  ​Program funding was provided by the County.

 

Many of  those addicted often recycle into our community hospitals due to overdose.  Each placement into a rehab changes the trajectory of a person's life from a mindset of hopelessness into a recovery 

minded perspective, and a lively hope for the future.  Their rehab

entry also relieves the burden to the residential and business sectors: criminal activity,  police calls,  fire department,  and ambulance calls are decreased, along with the excessive costs to the State.  It is also considerably less expensive to assist an individual with entry into rehab, then the costs for one hospital bed at over $4,000 per day!
